Dance With The Devil
An amazing spoken word piece, by Christopher James

From the poet:
Dance with the Devil is a poem for the lifestyle I was caught up in. The Devil is a metaphor for the material world I began to value. Money, women, clubs consumed my entire mind and the chase became a daily routine. These two girls represent both sides of the spectrum. Purity, faithfulness, Love vs Lust, drugs, polygamy... |
A note from Digital Poet
I'm not sure where to start raving about this piece. I can say that it's a perfect spoken word poem. I can say that Christopher's voice perfectly sets the tone and narrates the story. I can say that his embedded rhymes are used appropriately and strategically. I can say that the production value neither takes away from or drowns the story and the message. But to me, the message itself was the most important component of this performance. And for me to understand that, means that the message was conveyed in the manner that spoken word poetry was meant for. This form of art is completely about individual expression, and although there are no rules, there are definitely expectations. The expectation is that a poet touches the audience - engages them, moves them. I was definitely captured by "Dance With The Devil" - hope you are as well.
