"Young Ones"

A Slam poem about social issues, by Fernando Pey

Young Ones Lyrics:

God gave you a gift, I’m sure you, don’t believe right now
But it be something, you can see right now
Maybe someone you can be right now
It’s really crazy, but believe right now

And it could happen, once you landed in earth
Your mom cried, when she was giving birth
And if you didn’t cry, man you- stilled lived
Why you live like your unaware that your life is a gift

I’m telling you, be hind corporations
With the hate, and the lives that they taking
And insecurities the, lies they creating
Understand, that our God gave us language

Understand their evil, is stemmed from their greed
Taking your money that, they do not need
I hope you maintain your, heart of gold
The world’s influence can, make you grow cold

This Ones, for the young ones
Hope you understood
This ones, for the young ones
Hope you see it’s all good

I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours

I’m telling you, even though you don’t believe me
Peer pressure, it can really be deceiving
Cause your mind, can alter such ways
Can’t tell, Monday from Sunday

Sunday from Monday, all of it’s mundane
All- of its the same, as common as sun raise
Cause your friends might say, it could lift your mood
But it could also, take your gift from you

I almost lost my life last night
And I ain’t exaggerating, when I write that rhyme
Cause of the people I, was a round last night
But god in myself, I found that night

And with him I created, a whole new path
With more obstacles, I moved through that
And I hope you can, do the same
And take the motivation, from your pain

This Ones, for the young ones
Hope you understood
This ones, for the young ones
Hope you see it’s all good

I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours

I’m barely 18, and I’m still that age
It’s crazy cause I, barely feel that age
But motivation, I feel that rage
Over to the point where, I reveal my age

And show that, just because your older
And have a few more, burdens on your shoulder
You don’t have to have to, let go- now
You don’t gotta stop, setting goals now

You don’t gotta stop, acting a fool
And having fun, but be true to you
And even if you’re angry, at your mom or your dad
Realize they do the, best they can

To try raise you, to be your dreaming
Whether at home or, in the clouds I stay screaming
Stay young, and accomplish your goals
Keep an open heart, and you will never grow old

This Ones, for the young ones
Hope you understood
This ones, for the young ones
Hope you see it’s all good

I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
I hope you understand, that the world is yours
