Razor Sharp Lines from Wu-Tang's Best Tracks

Best Wu-Tang Clan Songs
In 1993, my entire view of the hip hop world was completely rocked. Wu-Tang Clan, whose name alone was completely different than anything the scene had previously known, released Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).

It was one of those albums that you had to hear a dozen times through to even try to understand. Rhyme schemes were redefined, language barriers were broken, the whole definition of hip-hop rap style was destroyed (as in broken down and reconstructed in a new, fresh, refined and different manner). Wu-Tang brought a new brand to the hip-hop revolution with 36 Chambers. And last time I looked, its now 2014 and you still hear Wu-Tang somewhere almost every day. That's 20+ years, over 2 decades of legacy. Wu-Tang Clan is the best thing that ever happened to hip-hop.

Since that album, they haven't missed in my opinion. Wu-Tang Forever came out in 1997 and both discs were populated with timeless tracks that still crush any radio hip-hop I hear today. Later albums, both group and from the individual artists, were noted as more of an "acquired taste" by many. I'm not part of that group. I was an early adopter of the Wu's style and differentiation, and I've loved nearly every track they produce and rhyme on. RZA is a fucking genius (no pun intended on The GZA)!

Wu-Tang Clan Best Lines, Best Verses and Best Songs

Ghostface Killah Best TracksGhostface Killah performing live
Before I sat down to write this, I debated whether I should write about my favorite Wu-Tang Clan tracks or verses. But I'm going with my favorite lines from their tracks. All their songs are in contention for the best Wu-Tang track - that's too hard. So I'll point out some of the best lines ever, but then follow it with a few of the best verses.

Wu-Tang Clan is what changed hip-hop. And broken down to the bare bones level, here is the content they spit that made them the strongest buffalo in the pack - the one that survived generations. These lines are in no particular order, but I broke them out by album.

Best Lines From Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers); 1993

When 36 Chambers was released, the skits, the excerpts from kung-fu flicks - all of that aided the beats and the lyrics. Here are some of the best lines from 36 Chambers:

Inspectah Deck, 7th Chamber:
I leave the mic in body bags, my rap style has
The force to leave you lost like the tribe of Shabazz

RZA, 7th Chamber:
Ruler Zig-Zag-Zig Allah jam is fatal
Quick to stick my Wu-Tang sword right through your navel

U-God, Mystery of Chessboxin':
Well I'm a sire, I set the microphone on fire,
Rap styles vary, Cary like Maria //
My hip-hop will rock and shock the nation
Like the Emancipation Proclamation

Ol' Dirty Bastard, Mystery of Chessboxin'
Huff? Puff? I'm gonna catch your bluff tuff
Rough, kicking rhymes like Jim Kelly
Or Alex Haley I'm a Mi-..Beetle Bailey rhymes

Masta Killa, Mystery of Chessboxin'
Homicide's illegal and death is the penalty
What justifies the homicide, when he dies
In his own iniquity it's the
Master of the Mantis Rapture coming at ya //
We have an APB on an MC Killer
Looks like the work of a Master

Ghostface Killah, Can It Be All So Simple
I'd rather flip shows instead of those
Hanging on my living room wall:
My first joint - and it went gold!

Raekwon, C.R.E.A.M.
A young youth, rocking the gold tooth, 'Lo goose
Only way I begin to G off was drug loot //
Figured out I went the wrong route
So I got with a sick-ass clique and went all out
Catching keys from across seas
Rolling in MPV's every week we made forty G's

Method Man, METHOD MAN
I'll sew ya asshole closed
And keep feedin ya, and feedin ya... //
Style will hit ya, wham!, then goddamn
You be like oh shit that's the jam//
I got, fat bags of skunk
I got, White Owl blunts
And I'm about to go get lifted
Yes I'm about to go get lifted
I got, myself a forty
I got, myself a shorty
And I'm about to go and stick it
Yes I'm about to go and stick it

Best Lines From Wu-Tang Forever Double CD, 1997

Wu-Tang Forever was a groundbreaking album, released almost 5 years after their first album shook the world. There were some solo albums in between like Raekwon's Only Built For Cuban Linx, but when Forever was released, the world knew Wu-Tang hadn't faded, they were here to stay and change the game. There's too many sick lines to list them all, so here's a few.

Inspectah Deck, Triumph
I bomb atomically
Socrates' philosophies and hypotheses
Can't define how I be dropping these mockeries
Lyrically perform armed robbery

Method Man, Triumph
Is court adjourned for the bad seed from bad sperm
Herb got my wig fried like a bad perm, what the blood
Clot, we smoke pot and blow spots
You want to think twice, I think not
The Iron Lung ain't got to tell you where it's coming from
Ol' Dirty Bastard, Reunited
Bitch ass niggas counterfeit the funk
I smoke the bead and the skunk
Tree top of the trunk
Moonshine drunken monk, your head get shrunk
Your treasure's sunk
I be fucking bitches by the chunk

RZA, Impossible
Innocent black immigrants locked in housing tenements
Eighty-Five percent tenants depended welfare recipients
Stapleton's been stamped as a concentration camp
At night I walk through, third eye as bright as a street lamp

RZA, Deadly Melody
Cock back my tongue like a hammer, my head is like
A nickel-plated bammer, spit forty-five caliber grammar

Ghostface & Raekwon, The M.G.M.
[Both] Yo, up in the M.G.M. coked up
[Ghost] Sike! Six niggas walked in flashing they gems peace
[Rae] Aight!

RZA, Duck Seazon
Steve Rifkind must have been sniffin
To catch somethin so dope, it left Monica Lynch pussy drippin
I fuck hundreds of bitches, and split millions of dollars
And built with thousands of scholars

Method Man, Duck Seazon
This rhyme has no limitations, this time there's no hesitation
Collecting minds at the door, you want it niggas it's yours
The flavors raw, what the fuck you think I'm flowing for
It's rhyme and reason, bite the bullet
Niggas is foul and it's duck season

Cappadonna, For Heaven's Sake
Wu Pirates, sneak inside the club, low eyes
Low down dirty, twelve thirty, night time crawlers
Off-the-wallers, basketball gun brawlers
Smoked out throw both fists for nine-seven
Slang reverend, put the best work in

Masta Killa, Visionz
As my brothers and I reign rebellious, changin
The courses of time, devils no longer exist
As God Cipher Divine, all minds one no question
Now check it...

GZA, As High As Wu-Tang Get
This Witty Unpredictable shot is critical
To analytical analogy, insurance policies why
Said he know that sounds define the note
Couldn't recognize, blast him the fuck behind the ropes

Masta Killa, Severe Punishment
You scream for the extreme, fiend for the cap
And proceeds of the Wu-Tang Academy
To fuck up your anatomy with assault and battery

Raekwon, Little Ghetto Boys
Shit is fucked up when they got us yo
She fainted at her baby wake now watch the breakdown
"..face responsiblity"
She fainted at her baby wake now yo watch the breakdown

Wu-Tang Clan Best Lines and Verses

wu-tang clan best verses
'Enter the Wu-Tang' and 'Wu-Tang Forever' are the Clan's claim to fame. But everything they make crushes most of the beats and lyrics that have come out in the past. Individual solo albums, mixtapes, cameos, etc. - anywhere Wu enters a track, its like adding Adobo to the dish, you spice it up (ala Raekwon, Duck Seazon). There's hundreds of tracks with Wu members on it, so I picked out some lines and verses that just blow my mind every time I hear 'em. For my criteria, I kept this list limited to tracks that were either on a Wu-Tang clan album or one of the Clan's solo artists' albums.

Cappadonna's verse Winter Warz (From Ironman, Ghostface Killah)
I'm too ill, I represent Park Hill
See my face on the twenty dollar bill
Cash it in, and get ten dollars back
The fat LP with Cappachino on the waxPass it in your thing, put valve up to twelve
Put all the other LP's back on the shelf
And smoke a blunt, and dial 9-1-7
1-6-0-4-9-3-11
And you could get long dick Hip Hop affection
I damage any MC who step in my direction
I'm Staten Island's best son fuck what you heard
Niggas still talking that shit is absurd
My repertoire, is U.S.S.R
P.L.O. style got thrown out the car
And ran over, by the Method Man jeep
Divine can't define my style is so deep
Like pussy, my low cut fade stay bushy
Like a porcupine, I part backs like a spine
Gut you like a blunt and reconstruct your design

Method Man, Wu-Gambinos (From Only Built For Cuban Linx, Raekwon)

Scriptures hit the body like sawed-off shotties
Like my hair knotty and my nosepiece snotty
Fuck a nigga hottie, that whole pussy probably
Burn like the deserts of Mogabi, for real
Ain't nothing fraudulent here, we pioneer
Commandeer a new frontier, this be the Wu yeah
Thirty-six chambers of fear, huh you lost it
Information leaking out your faucets, hmm
Time to forfeit your crown and leave the grounds
There's a new sheriff in town holding it down
It's the two holster, shit shot smoker
Wanted dead or alive, bounty on the poster
Wild in the West, a student of my culture
And life is the test, hold up

Ghostface Killah, Wu-Banga 101 (Supreme Clientele, Ghostface Killah)
Bottles goin off in the church, we broke the wine
slapped the pastor, didn't know Pop had asthma
He pulled out his blue bible, change fell out his coat
Three condoms, two dice, one bag of dope
Oooh! Rev. ain't right, his church ain't right
Deacon is a pimp, tell by his eyes
Mrs. Parks said, "Brother Starks, meet you at the numbers spot
Heard you got red tops out, and I want a lot"
Shirley fainted dead on the spot
Two ushers slipped eighty dollars right out the pot
Oh shit!"

Masta Killa, No Said Date (No Said Date, Masta Killa)
They said the God wasn't never comin' home
Grandma in a nursin' home, my mind is blown
I'm known to walk alone, but the fam
It's deep, yeah we all love heat
These military arm' marine, sub machine gun
Legend of Brooklyn, master craftsman
Lord, when you droppin'?" No said date
Thought premeditated, well calculated
The air's been tested, the people can't wait
So, ahh -- we agreed to send one, to swim from lost and found
See truth be the life preserve, we can't drown
Drunk with the victory, the Wu cavalry
Bomb the seminar, the last "hoo-ra" for chivalry
Classical, Yo-Yo Ma, laced in the bulletproof fabric
Crafted and mastered in space
What better place of birth than the Earth

Ol' Dirty Bastard, Brooklyn Zoo (Return to the 36 Chambers, Ol' Dirty Bastard)
I'm the one-man army, Ason
I never been tooken out, I keep MCs looking out
I drop science like Cosby dropping babies
Enough to make a nigga go crazy
In the G building, taking all types of medicines
Your ass thought you were better than
Ason, I keep planets in orbit
While I be coming with deeper and more shit
Enough to make you break and shake your ass
As I create rhymes good as a Tastykake makes
This style, I'm mastered in
Niggas catching headaches, what? What? You need Aspirin?
This type of pain, you couldn't even kill with Midol
Fuck around, get sprayed with Lysol
In your face like a can of mace, baby
Is it burning? Well, fuck it, now you're learning
How I don't even like your motherfucking profile
Give me my fucking shit: CH-CH-BLAOW!

U-God, Six Directions of Boxing (The Man With The Iron Fists Soundtrack, RZA)
When I'm locked down I use Timbs as my shower slippers
I'm in the background mingling with the powder flippers
In the basement, hard-body power lifters
I crush sour in the sifter, see how I lift her
Universal God I stay scientific
The kid with the Golden Arms, Iron Fisted
Stay Asiatic, so cinematic
Noise in the attic, bang out with them automatics
It's hood politics that bring the hunger back
I'm straight chopping wood, call me the lumberjack
Check the catalog put out a hundred packs
Watch for drug sniffing dogs they coming from the back
I'm straight thunder clap the funky drummer's back
It's pure Dopium, give em a heart attack
I stay stacking plaques like ancient artifacts
Joe Namath in the game I'm the quarterback

Inspectah Deck, Assasination Day (Ironman, Ghostface Killah)
I move through the third world, my third eye's the guiding light
Invite the fight, we all die tonight
The life I live's a twenty-five to life bid
Parole reneged, I stroll the globe fugitive
CREAM is short, Cee Cipher Power stalk, plus the fiend talk
Three Gs the cost in Supreme Court
White lies and blackmail land me back in jail
We're all for sale, a stolen goal but it fail
Stranded on the front line
I shine to the dumb and blind
It comes time I take back what was once mine
Crunch time in the first quarter
From the worst slaughter
Devil's poisoning the birth water

RZA, Diary Of A Madman (Gravediggaz, RZA aka Prince Rakeem the Rugged Child)
Overwhelmed by the wicked inspirations of an evil jinn
I realize my ideas has spawned for 400 years
Of blood sweat and tears
I saw the torture brutal murder of my father
So my brain became stained with the horror
I'm having reoccurring nightmares
Of being soaking wet, strapped down to the electric chair
I got tackled with handcuffs, and shackled in restraint
At the bottom of a holy tabernacle
They gave me nothing to eat for two weeks
And sewed my eye lids open so I couldn't sleep
About to die from thirst, that's when the minister
Quenched my jaws with a cold glass of vinegar
Upon my wounds they seasoned my with salt
And nailed my hands feet to the form of a cross
Ahh!! I cry
As the blood drips inside of my eye refusing to die
Visions of hell tormented my faith
So I chewed my fucking arm off and made an escape

RZA, 4th Chamnber (GZA, Liquid Swords)

Aiyo, camouflage chameleon, ninjas scaling your building
No time to grab the gun, they already got your wife and children
A hit was sent from the President to raid your residence
Because you had secret evidence and documents
On how they raped the continents and lynched the prominent
Dominant Islamic, Asiatic black Hebrew
The year 2002 the battle's filled with the Wu
Six million devils just died from the Bubonic Flu
Or the Ebola virus, under the reign of King Cyrus
You can see the weakness of a man right through his iris
Unloyal snakes get thrown in boiling lakes of hot oil
Up boils your skin, chickenheads getting slim like Olive Oyl
Only plant the seed deep inside fertile soil
Fortified with essential vitamin and minerals
Use the sky for a blanket, stuffing clouds inside my pillow
Rolling with the Lamb, Twelve Tribes a 144, 000 chosen
Protons Electrons Always Cause Explosions

GZA, Duel Of The Iron Mic (GZA, Liquid Swords)

Yo
Picture bloodbaths and elevator shafts
Like these murderous rhymes tight from genuine craft
Check the print, it's where veterans spark the letterings
Slow moving MC's is waiting for the editing
The liquid soluble that made up the chemistry
A gaseous element, that burned down your ministry
Herbal vapors, and biblical papers
Smoking Exodus, every square yard is plush
Fuck the screw-faced photo sessions facial expression
Leaves impressions, try to keep a shark nigga guessing
Give crazy shouts Son here's the outcome
Cut across the semi-gloss rhymes you floss
Shit is outdated, just like neckloads of Sterlings
Suede-fronts, bell-bottoms, and tri-colored Shearlings
I ain't particular, I bang like vehicular homicides
On July 4th in Bed-Stuy
Where money don't grown on trees and there's thieving MC's
Who cut-throat to rake leaves
They can't breathe, blood splash, rushing fast
Like running rivers, I be that whiskey in your liver

Raekwon, Daytona 500 (Ironman, Ghostface Killah)
Say peace to cats who rock MAC Knowledge Knowledges
Street astrologists, light up the mic God, knowledge this
Fly joints that carried your points, Corolla Motorola holder
Play it God, E-pack over the shoulder
Chrome tanks, player like Yanks, check the franchise
Front on my guys, my enterprise splash many lives
Repel all fakes like reflectors
He had sugar in his ear in his last crack career
We can can him, manhandle him, if you wanna
Run in his crib-o, get ditto, skate like a limo
And jet to the flyest estate, relate take a break
Break down an eighth and then wait, drop it like Drake
Thugs they be booing and screwing, we canoeing
Claim they doing the same shit we doing, fuck a union
It's the same style, RZA train a boy, jump the turnstile
On the island he tried to challenge God for the new bals
Especially that, aluminum bat in the Ac
Relax, lay back, sell a grenade a day, it pays black
The Mac-10 flex wipe cats like Windex
Index finger be sore busting these fly scripts
The Wally kid count crazily grands with our plans
Laying with my bitches and my mans in Lex Lands
We losing 'em, jet to the stash in New Jerusalem
Abusing 'em, rocking his jewels like we using 'em
Low pro star, seven thick waves rock Polar
Roll with the older Gods, build with the Sun, Moon and Star
